Inkstone

An inkstone is a traditional stationary item used in Chinese and East Asian calligraphy and painting. It’s typically a flat, often rectangular or oval, stone surface with a central depression. Inksticks are rubbed in water on the stone to grind and mix ink for writing and painting.
